Police force is the primary organ of a Criminal Justice Delivery System. More importantly, it serves as the irreplaceable ‘first responders’ to any emergency situation and is thus uniquely positioned to act as a force for social change too. The M.A. (Police & Security Studies) course prepares the students pre-dominantly to handle various exigencies in the Indian security environment. The course is designed to encourage the non-science students to pursue career in law enforcement and security field. The students learn how to utilize modern technology to overcome the domestic barriers and challenges in our Police functioning while bringing a renewed focus on upgrading the traditional practices and systems of Policing. As such, acquisition of knowledge, skills and technical competence provide the students of this course a distinct edge over their counterparts when they reach out to join the State Police services, Central Armed Police Forces, Law enforcement departments, Coast Guard, Intelligence Agencies or security verticals of industrial / corporate sector in managerial as well as leadership roles.
